Aviva Ventures

Aviva Ventures is the corporate venture capital fund of Aviva plc, one of the United Kingdom's largest insurance and financial services companies. Founded in 2016 with an initial £100 million allocation — supplemented by an additional £150 million commitment in 2023 — the fund invests in early-stage companies strategically relevant to Aviva's business across mobility, insurance, well-being, wealth, finance, data, and artificial intelligence. The CVC team has been integrated into Aviva Investors, Aviva's asset management subsidiary, embedding the venture function within a firm managing over £300 billion in assets. Aviva Ventures has made 30 investments, including Scan.com in medical imaging, across fintech, AI, digital health, data analytics, and mobility sectors. Checks range from $3 million to $25 million, targeting seed through Series B companies primarily in Europe. The fund also supports delivery of the UK's Mansion House Compact for venture capital investment reform, contributing to the development of a pension-backed VC ecosystem in Britain. For portfolio companies, Aviva's scale is the primary value proposition: access to millions of insurance and financial services customers across the UK and internationally, Aviva's global distribution network, and relationships with regulators and corporates built over more than three centuries of operations. The CVC structure gives the investment team strategic alignment with Aviva's digital transformation agenda, enabling co-development of customer propositions alongside startups with genuine commercial pathways into the parent company's business lines.
