Gathering market insights
Before you start creating your product, you need to validate your product idea by collecting and analysing market feedback. Here’s how to get started.
🦦 Define your ideal customer profile: Ask yourself: who could use your product? Define your target market and your ideal customer. Who does your product already serve? What other products do they use? Is there a big enough market for your product to support itself? If so, great! If not, you might want to go bigger.
👁 Test the market: Do your research. It's best to start with a clearly defined audience for your product or service and then study whether they’re ready to pay and how much.
☎️ Validate your product idea: Use various methods to test your idea:
User surveys: Gather detailed feedback from potential users.
Landing page test: Create a landing page to gauge interest and collect early sign-ups.
Alpha or beta launch: Test with early adopters to get hands-on feedback.
🧝🏼♂️ Identify power users: The ideal users who really fit with the product. Talk with advocates and critics. Listen to both points of view. Speak with them in detail to discover what they like and dislike about your product.
📨 Collect feedback and log it: Figure out a consistent way of capturing and analysing feedback. Ask the same questions so you’ll have consistent data. Write up what you find and use it to improve your product and your strategy.
